Note: Isabey executed these twelve drawings on the suggestion of the 
Chevalier Brongniart, to serve as illustrations on a service set from the Royal 
Manufacture of Sevres. One service set, "La Vie du Paysan," had already 
been executed after water colors by Isabey, for the Duchesse d'Artois {now 
in the Museum for Art and Industry in Hamburg}. On the other hand, 
these drawings never were used as models for service decorations, and 
disappeared completely from circulation.
